Connect with Others Recovering from Religious Harm

From topical forums to a monthly book club to member-led group hangouts, this community has multiple opportunities to form authentic connections with others who “get it.”

A place to connect with others going through the same thing.

For many people, one of the most difficult aspects of leaving a high-control religion is losing their community and feeling really alone in processing their experiences.

And I get it… I’ve been there too.

Not only does leaving mean an actual loss of friendships and social supports, but many of us have struggled to find others who really understand what we’ve been through.

I created the Religious Harm Recovery Membership Community to help fill this gap.

It’s designed to be a supportive space where folks can meaningfully engage with one another around topics unique to recovering from religious indoctrination.

How to tell if this group would be right for you.

You would probably get a lot out of the Religious Harm Recovery Membership Group if you check the following boxes:

  • You were indoctrinated into a high-control religion like Evangelical Christianity, Jehovah’s Witness, LDS, SDA, IFB, or similar
  • You’ve been looking to connect with others more deeply around your experiences with religious harm
  • You want a space that’s professionally guided, inclusive, and affirming

Free Access Includes:

A Thriving Community Forum

Moderated to ensure thoughtful communication, this space most closely resembles a private Facebook group without being connected to any social media platform.

Inside the community forum, members can create posts, share resources, and get support from one another.

A Regularly Updated Resource Library

Each week, a new edition of the Religious Harm Recovery Digest is posted to the resource library.

The RHR Digest is available in both written and audio format and covers a variety of topics related to religious trauma, purity culture, childhood indoctrination, and more!

Occasionally, other resources will be posted to the library such as recorded audio resources, journal prompts, and recovery guides.

Topical Forums

Topical forums are available for members who want to connect more deeply around specific topics. Currently these include:

  • Recovering from Purity Culture

These forums are actively guided and moderated to support meaningful discussion and deeper recovery.

Coffee Chats

Coffee chats are virtual group hangouts that are centered around re-building community.

The goal is for folks to be able to actually meet and talk to one another in a space that supports meaningful connection.

As this community grows and evolves, the number of coffee chats will continue to increase since members will have the opportunity to advertise and host their own coffee chat events.

Common Questions:

The biggest difference is the quality of engagement.

While many Facebook groups devolve into thoughtless commentary or shallow memes, the forums in this community are carefully moderated and thoughtfully curated to support more meaningful connection among members.

Also, because it’s entirely separate from the Facebook and Meta ecosystem, anyone can join, regardless of whether they have a Facebook account.

I wanted to create a free option for folks seeking a high-quality group forum experience who might not have the financial means to commit to a monthly subscription.

The free, Open Access plan allows for people to connect in an off-social space and to access resources from the Resource Library.

I also wanted to create a member-only option for folks who are able and invest at a deeper level.

The subscriber-based, Member-Only plan provides access to more niche forums, a monthly book club, and virtual groups hang outs that provide additional opportunities for deeper connection among members.

Participating in the Member-Only plan also allows folks to access Group Coaching Intensives at a significantly reduced rate.

One of the perks of the free, Open Access plan is that you can get a look inside the community without committing to anything.

You’ll be able to see the overall layout and get a feel for how things are structured and moderated.

If you decide you’d like to access the Member-Only spaces, you can easily upgrade right inside the community at anytime.

You may also cancel your membership at anytime if you realize it’s not the right fit for you.

Current Membership Rates

  • Open Access Plan – FREE
  • Member-Only Plan – $27 per month
